Nicola Hunt, Brains at Work Academy
Specialism: Health & Wellness
We help organisations look after their workforce’s brain health so that leadership teams and employees can avoid burnout, and the organisation has lower attrition and presenteeism.
About
Why prioritise brain health?
It develops sustainable resilience, not short-term coping strategies.
Addressing overload, fatigue and stress can reduce absenteeism and presenteeism
Retention and engagement are better in a workforce that can think clearly, regulate stress and recover effectively. 74% of employees say that improving their wellbeing is more important than progressing their career (Deloitte 2020)
It makes financial sense. Research shows a ROI of £4.70 – £6.30 for every £1 invested (and up to £7.3 for organisation-wide initiatives)
Popular awareness sessions are:
- Brain health for performance
- Understanding burnout is a physiological condition, not a mindset that needs fixing
- Cognitive overload and what to do about it
- Sleep is your number one productivity tool
- Why your brain can’t communicate well under pressure
Nicola can work with organisations to support their brain health strategy, create bespoke training, deliver one-off awareness sessions, and provide one-to-one and group coaching programmes.
We can deliver awareness sessions on
- Understanding the impacts of brain injury
- Brain injury and concussion awareness – how ongoing symptoms impact performance
- Understanding fatigue and long-term conditions
- Understanding sensory processing and creating the right sensory environment
- How brain injury can affect communication
- Brain injury; fine on the outside, struggling on the inside
We also work with your organisation to provide individual support for those who require it, either directly or in collaboration with your occupational health department or employee assistance programme (EAP). Having a specialist work collaboratively with your organisation means that you can be confident that your legal obligations regarding supporting disability in the workplace have been met.
Why does that matter?
Every 90 seconds, someone attends A&E with an acquired brain injury. That is 919 per day.
So there are probably people in your workforce who have a brain injury.
Then add on other neurological conditions, 1 in every 6 people living in the UK has a neurological condition ( in case you didn’t know, migraine is classed as a neurological condition).
So it is looking pretty certain now that there are people in your workforce who have a neurological condition. Knowing how to support this section of your workforce can be tricky without specialist advice.
