Specialism: Leadership
I help organisations to accelerate how quickly newly promoted and early-stage leaders step into senior roles, helping them handle leadership pressure and perform with confidence, clarity and impact.
About
When high-performing professionals step into senior leadership roles, the transition is often
more challenging than expected. I help professional services organisations ensure those
leaders quickly step into their new role with confidence, clarity and the ability to perform
effectively under the pressure of senior leadership.
Many professional services organisations invest heavily in developing their people. However,
these new leadership roles bring increased expectations, more complex conversations and a
greater level of visibility across the organisation. As leaders step into these roles, the level of
pressure also increases significantly. While they’ve proved to be technically capable, many
newly promoted leaders take time to fully step into the leadership side of the role.
The problems I help solve
During this time, organisations may notice their new leaders are holding back in situations
where they’re expected to take the lead, spending longer than expected weighing up
decisions, or taking on too much themselves, rather than delegating effectively. Some may
also avoid or delay conversations they know they need to have, especially when there is a
potential of challenge or pushback. All of this is driven by the new levels of pressure leaders
are experiencing.
This is not an issue with their capability; it is a challenge with the transition.
Left unsupported, this can slow down how quickly leaders establish themselves in the role. It can create
bottlenecks, place additional pressure on team members and limit the impact leaders are able to make, at a
point where the organisation is relying on them to step up.
It can also affect how confidently these new leaders engage with their clients. This can affect the strength
of their client relationships, how the organisation is represented externally and, over time, the quality of
client delivery and long-term client relationships and retention.
My approach
My work focuses on supporting leaders through this critical time.
Rather than relying on generic leadership models, this work focuses on how leaders navigate the reality of
the day-to-day pressures of leadership.
I help leaders understand how this pressure influences their thinking and behaviour, and I support them to
respond more effectively in leadership situations.
This enables leaders to:
- Step confidently into leadership roles sooner, to enable targets and expectations to be met without delay.
- Navigate competing expectations with clarity, meaning priorities are managed effectively and any
unnecessary pressure on teams is reduced. - Approach challenging conversations more directly and constructively, so issues are addressed early,
avoiding any escalation or impact on performance. - Make progress without overthinking or second-guessing themselves, so decisions are made quickly and confidently, avoiding any delays to delivery.
- Represent the organisation with confidence and credibility, which strengthens client relationships and
supports long-term retention.
The benefits for organisations
For organisations, this means leaders contribute at the level they expect of them, sooner.
It strengthens how leaders show up in key situations, both internally and with clients, reduces unnecessary
pressure within teams and improves the overall success of the leadership group.
Over time, this supports stronger team performance and protects the organisation’s investment in their
talent.
Why work with me
My passion for this work comes from my own experience stepping into a senior role and finding the reality
and pressures of leadership more challenging than expected. Like many professionals, I eventually
believed the only option was to leave.
That experience shaped my approach, and I now work with organisations to ensure their leaders are
supported through this transition, so capable people can succeed and thrive in leadership roles.
Combining my diploma in Personal Performance Coaching, my NLP practitioner accreditation and my
understanding of leadership challenges, I provide practical, structured support that helps leaders navigate
the pressure of real leadership situations.
One Head of Department recently said: “I left each session with my own actions, new thought processes,
and a week on week “buzz” of positivity returning.”
